Biography:

Masumeh Modarresi Ghavami known as Marjan Modarresi, was born in Tehran, Iran. Her enthusiasm in architecture, graphics, and painting shows her seeker spirit. Painting is her passion in life. Despite her past experience in painting with different techniques and materials, the high point of her career was when she came to know Seyyed Jamaleddin Khorrami-Nejad and benefited by his guidance. She has been painting since 1994 as a professional Artist. Marjan is the winner of the first prize of Schminke Contest (Germany-1998) and has received letters of commendation such as the one from Ali Akbar San’ati (1995) and has had many group and individual exhibitions. Beside her professional activities, she has been teaching art since 1998.

Point of View:

I do not remember the first time I had a pencil in hand and draw lines on a piece of paper, but the feeling is close to my heart when I see children drawing. They draw what is real to them, not what we see or want to see. This mesmerizes me. Each one of us has a world of our own that others do not see and even do not accept. So, there is no need to bring all my thoughts on the paper. Drawing everything in details is like talking too much with no use. I love mixing up of the truth with the dreams, reforming imagination into reality, and the moment white nothingness is realized as a picture. Creating such moments have a strange feeling of excitement

“Brillience requires neither the stamp of age nor the blessings of experience to illuminate the horizon of the art world. It dose not demand great expertise  on the part of the beholder to appreciate the sheer resplendence of chefs- d' oeure either. The elated feeling of  artistic discovery and fulfillment is distinctly evident in the vivid paintings of Ms. Masoumeh Modarresi Ghavami. This young, gifted painter has made her mark on the Iranian art scene within a short period of time …’’
